In 1995, the UDW began working with members of the Dwight
community to document the collective vision and specific goals for the
future of the neighborhood and provide corresponding strategies for action.
As a result of the community partnerships established by the neighborhood
plan, a $2.4 M HUD grant was awarded to Yale University to ensure the
continuation of these relationships. Funding was also allocated to implement
specific projects identified in the plan. The Dwight neighborhood was
selected for a pilot program by the National Trust for Historic Preservation
establishing design guidelines for low-income communities. |
