This comprehensive building design studio explores the theme of public architecture through the design of a medium-scale public building. It focuses on the development of a detailed building proposal with particular attention given to the intelligent integration of programmatic, spatial, environmental, structural and material factors. Each year a different building type – museum, library, courthouse, school – is selected in order to rigorously examine the operational and representational dimensions of architecture. Prerequisites: 501a, 502b. (Required in M.Arch. I third term.)
