Drawing and Architectural Form

This course examines the highly rigorous constructed architectural drawing through the tools of descriptive geometry, cast perspective, and sciagraphy. These tools have evolved within an historical and theoretical context of architectural representation, and can inform strategies toward the conception of architectural form. The drawing process of the constructed drawing reveals the building through the tactile materials of its own construction. Thus, mediums such as pencil, ink washes, and watercolor are an integral part of the articulation of these drawings. The appropriateness and meaning of drawn construction and its articulation are examined through a series of drawn investigations, which use the Yale campus as a point of departure. Limited enrollment.
