Haibo University

Haibo University is a campus that is socially, urbanistically, and programmatically connected to Shanghai at different scales, in contrast to the standard typology of new development in the city- the isolated shopping center enclave. This campus embodies China’s strong interest in clean technology and teaches Shanghai’s underserved migrant population the skills to join the clean tech labor market. In addition, the campus provides a central park to the surrounding neighborhood and is one of the few public parks accessible from the Shanghai metro system. Not only does this educational landscape illustrate water remediation techniques, tree farms, and sustainable food production but it also functions as a destination for the city of Shanghai to enjoy.
