John D. Jacobson

John Jacobson is an architect who has taught at the School of Architecture since 1970. He received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and his M.Arch. from Yale University. While teaching, he was also a designer for Pfisterer, Tor and Associates, a consulting structural engineering firm; a project manager for one of the largest construction companies in Connecticut; and a project manager for Cesar Pelli & Associates. In addition, for twenty years, John was the product designer and owner of a manufacturing firm specializing in products for children. He has received the Judith M. Capen Teaching Award, an award selected by YSoA graduating students. From 1996 through 2018, John, as associate dean, worked with three successive deans in overseeing the School of Architecture’s administration and finance. His current research is on the history and consequences of building failures.
