Title

Lowell Frames

Authors

Course
Second-Year Core Studio

Project Description

Our proposal for redesigning Lowell sought to expand notions of interiority and enclosure to an urban scale through a series of buildings conceived of as frames that define open spaces at multiple scales of intimacy. These programmed frames engage the existing topography of the city while introducing new, constructed topographies that delineate a series of interconnected courtyards, parks and other civic and cultural centers that relate to the surrounding urban context and form an implied urban sequence, linking Lowell’s major transit hub and the existing downtown district.
