Kurt Forster, Vincent Scully Visiting Professor of Architectural History at the Yale School of Architecture from 2005–2009 and Visiting Professor Emeritus from 2009–2021, died this past weekend. He was instrumental in the development and success of Yale’s PhD program in Architecture. Celebrated for his brilliant lectures in the required survey course ‘Modern Architecture,‘ he also taught seminars on Karl Friedrich Schinkel and on the houses that architects build for themselves, among other courses.
