Project Description

Although Lowell’s industrial purpose has been lost, it remains full of opportunities and intact infrastructure. Taking cues from specific moments and characters of individual blocks, our project is sensitive to Lowell’s existing built environment; we intervene at the scale of the block by identifying opportunity areas around Downtown. Development is dispersed in location and typology to propel even growth. A forgotten trolley line is revived, reconnecting the city and linking all Downtown areas. Our seven-stop loop connects a range of uses and activities for residents and visitors. This overarching system impacts movement through the city, tying the fragmented development together.
