Tonight’s lecture is the sixteenth in the series of Eero Saarinen lectures that bring speakers to the School who have an important impact on architecture but who are not necessarily themselves architects. The first Saarinen lecture, delivered by Anthony A. Williams, Mayor of Washington D.C., reflected the growing realization that the recuperation of inner cities brought with it problems having to do with race and class that are not easily addressed, but nevertheless need to be addressed. The fifteenth Saarinen lecturer was Justin Hollander, Associate Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University.
