Bryan Martino

Bryan is a PhD student at Yale CEA whose research aims to bridge the gap between architecture and biology through additive manufacturing. He explores how biological principles can be integrated into architectural systems that respond to light, moisture, and other environmental forces. His broader goal is to help architects design buildings that register ecological change and contingency as requisite conditions for resilient built environments. Bryan earned a Master of Science in Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) from the University of Stuttgart in 2025 as a Fulbright Study/Research Grantee. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from the University of Colorado Boulder, both awarded in 2022. His master’s thesis, “Shape_Shift”, received the 2026 Artur Fischer Stiftung Award for its contribution to the development of moisture-responsive material systems.
